HDTV Workshop Held in Ankara
25 HDTV Operations Workshop
Canal France International, Turkish Radio & Television and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union jointly organised an HDTV Workshop in Ankara in March 2012. The 5-day event looked into the technical and operational issues and techniques of the production environment at a time of migrating from SD to HD production.
The event also included hands-on practical sessions with the experts, in the use of cameras, lighting, make-up and other techniques used for both indoor and outdoor HD productions. Other topics addressed HDTV signal processing, HD camera menu, make-up and lighting in HD, White & Black balance, Black & Hyper Gamma and shading.
The workshop was attended by over 20 participants representing engineers, cameramen, make-up artists, lighting technicians and other production staff from TRT, JRTV-Jordan, Ictimai TV-Azerbaijan and others. The expert, Dr Aly Yeganeh of CFI-France provided a comprehensive perspective of technical as well as an artistic approach to HDTV production.
Pacific Media Partnership Conference 2011 “Strengthening the Voice of the Pacific”
The Pacific Media Partnership Conference 2011 was held in December, 2011 in Nuku’alofa, Tonga. The ABU and Tonga Broadcasting Commission were the main organisers of the event themed “Strengthening Voice of the Pacific”. The Hon. Prime Minster of the Kingdom of Tonga opened the conference and delivered the keynote address. The event was attended by more than 70 senior executives of broadcasting and media organisations in the Pacific Island countries. A total of 43 speakers made presentations at the conference and the associated workshops.
Pre-conference Workshops
Seven pre-conference workshops focused on a variety of subjects, covering areas such as Enhancing PSB, Media coverage of HIV in the Pacific, Radio and Multiplatform in the Digital Age, Emergency Warning Broadcasting, Frequency and Coverage Planning, and Digital Broadcasting Roadmaps for Pacific Island Countries. The workshops were presented by subject experts in an interactive manner, generating good participation from the attendees.
