As seen in the figure, the software is divided into two sections. The upper part shows the database, called the Browser. In this part you can search, listen, copy etc., the sound files in the server. The lower part shows the workspace. Each tab represents one tool by which recording, editing, import, export, planning, statistics, etc. are done.


The facilities provided in the editing and scheduling workstations are:


l Importing sound files from different media sources such as tape, DAT, CD, etc.


l Multi-way transmission of audio, from and to the system (import and export) such as any computer on the network, FTP server, etc.


l Easy editing,


such as, jingles, music etc. are found and given on air from the related channel in the screen. Each broadcasting unit has four stereo sound outputs. The first is the playlist channel that is represented by the first column (1st channel), 2nd and 3rd are the stack channels in the 2nd and 3rd columns and 4th output is reserved for PFL (pre fader listening). Programmes can be put on air automatically, semi-automatically or manually.


Sound Types and Formats


The sound format used in this automation system can be set to various types. TRT uses 256kbps/48kHz/Mpeg1 Layer 2. When a sound file is imported to the system from an analogue or digital source, it is automatically converted to these formats.

In Figure 2 and Figure 3 below, AirDDO (on air) software is shown.


Air-DDO is a program designed for putting playlists and sound on air. The application consists of two separate screens. First is a preparation screen for loading sound files and monitoring items for broadcast and the second is a broadcast screen for piloting broadcast channels. On the browser screen, scheduled program playlists, sound files
