MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET IS PRICELESS! by tony reverditto

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is the smash-hit musical inspired by the famed recording session of rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. A Chicago production of Million Dollar Quartet opened in 2008 and is still playing to packed houses at the Apollo Theatre. When the Broadway production opened in April 2010, critics and audiences leapt to their feet in unanimous praise and the musical continues its successful New York engagement at New World Stages. Now, the national tour makes a stop at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts for its Orange County premiere.

The production received the Tony Award for

LA BOHEME A moving opera revolving around two

downtrodden Bohemians living in 1830s Paris; poet, Rodolfo and painter, Marcello, who are freezing their tushes off in a cold attic and having a penniless and hungry Christmas Eve. All is bleak until friends show up with money and an invitation to the Latin Quarter for food and excitement. Rodolfo stays behind to finish his writing and is interrupted by his next door neighbor Lucia, known as Mimi, a seamstress looking for someone to relight her candles. They are instantly attracted to one another and they eventually catch up with the group. In the meantime, Marcello has gotten re-acquainted with his flirtatious ex-girlfriend Musetta, who dumps her sugar daddy after getting him to pay the entire night’s bill. For Mimi and Rodolfo, things are not so good, she has tuberculosis and he is mean to her hoping to drive her away. The four are brought back together and face more hurdles and the biggest tragedy of all. Runs Thursday, April 19 through Tuesday, April 24 at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, 615 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa.
