Maidstone is the most desirable place to live in Kent
Maidstone Borough has the best quality of life in Kent. The annual Halifax Quality of Life Survey tracks where living standards are highest in the United Kingdom by ranking all 405 local authority districts based on jobs, the housing market, education, health, low levels of crime, relatively good weather, traffic flows and broadband access.
Maidstone came eighth in the UK, ahead of Tunbridge Wells which was twelfth and Ashford, twenty seventh. Other Kent towns in

the top fifty were Sevenoaks (38), Tonbridge and Malling (46) and Gravesham (49).
Maidstone scored highest in the UK for employment with a rate of 84%, closely followed by the Shetland Islands which had an employment rate of 83.8%.
