We cannot accept garden waste, very large bulky items and electrical or hazardous items. You can dispose of these items through our paid for bulky collection service or at the household waste recycling centre at Burial Ground Lane, Tovil, Maidstone. It is open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4.30pm, and Sunday and Bank Holidays, 9am to 4pm. Conference Bureau The Kent Conference Bureau won a silver award at the Beautiful South’s Awards for ExSEllence 2011. The annual awards run by Tourism South East recognise businesses and destinations across the tourist industry for their exceptional standards of customer service. The Kent Conference Bureau, based within Maidstone Borough Council, provides support to Kent venues by attracting business to the county and by promoting the facilities on industry websites and at exhibitions.

36 Engineers’ festive shoebox gifts


Maidstone council staff boxed up Christmas gifts to send to the 36 Engineers serving in Afghanistan over Christmas. The gift boxes were handed over at the Maidstone Gateway to the army by the Deputy Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Rodd Nelson-Gracie, and the council’s Chief Executive, Alison Broom.
