The Equiery Awards


T rough its awards, T e Equiery seeks to promote the diversity of horse sports, excellence in equine and equestrian talent and the wealth of venues found within Maryland. T e awards are designed to recognize the top amateurs competing in what may be for many the highest level in which they will ever compete, as well as recognizing those riders beginning a national career. Some of the awards are also designed to highlight Maryland’s plentiful and diverse competition venues.


Equiery Perpetual Dressage Award


T is award is an annual year- end award for the high point Maryland resident amateur rider at T ird Level or above, with a minimum score of 50%, who has shown in at least half of the Maryland-located or


PVDA-sponsored U.S. Equestrian Federation/ U.S. Dressage Federation recognized shows. A rider may only win this award once. T e winner of this award will: • be featured on the cover of T e Equiery’s an- nual dressage issue; • have a brief feature article appear in the issue which will then be archived on equiery.com with a link to pvda.com; • receive a “keeper” trophy and cooler; • have his or her name included on perpetual trophy.


Equiery Perpetual Hunter Award


To be presented to the high- est ranking child hunter (on a horse or pony), adult amateur or amateur owner who is a current Maryland resident and member of the Maryland


Horse Shows Association. A rider may only win this award once. T e winner of this award will: • be featured on the cover of T e Equiery’s an- nual hunter/jumper issue; • have a brief feature article appear in the issue which will then be archived on equiery.com with a link to mdhsa.org; • receive a “keeper” trophy and cooler; • have his or her name included on perpetual trophy.


Equiery Perpetual Eventing Award


To be presented to the the Maryland resi- dent and Maryland Combined Training Association member


horse/rider combination who earns the most points in Training Level divisions at Mary- land events that are recognized by the U.S. Eventing Association. T e Maryland resident must compete in at least six of Maryland’s 15 USEA-recognized events on the same horse; www.equiery.com | 800-244-9580


the six recognized events must be at three or more diff erent venues in Maryland. A rider may only win this award once. T e winner of this award will: • be featured on the cover of T e Equiery’s an- nual eventing issue; • have a brief feature article appear in the issue which will then be archived on equiery.com with a link to mdcta.org; • receive a “keeper” trophy and cooler; • have his or her name included on perpetual trophy.


Equiery Intercollegiate Award


Given to the highest ranked Maryland col- lege team in the Inter- collegiate Horse Show Association at the end of the school year. T e winning college will be featured in the junior/young rider is- sue of T e Equiery. Team members will receive “keeper” trophies and the college’s name will appear on the Intercollegiate Trophy. T e ar- ticle will be archived on equiery.com with links to its college equestrian program.


Equiery Perpetual Western Award


To be presented to the top-placing Maryland- owned horse/Maryland rider combination at the Black-Eyed Susan Show. Must be a Mary- land State Quarter Horse Association member. T e rider may receive this award only once. T e winner of this award will:


• receive a “keeper” trophy and cooler; • have his or her name included on perpetual trophy; • have a brief feature article appear in the T e Equiery’s annual Western issue which will then be archived on equiery.com.


Equiery Interschool Horse Show Awards


T e Equiery is a proud sponsor of the Inter- school Horse Show series Invitationals where year-end high score awards are given out for the top middle school and high school riding teams.
