Rapid Redux Sets National Record Rapid Redux, owned by Robert Cole and


trained by David Wells, has spent the last year not only reaching records, but breaking them. On October 27, 2011, the then fi ve-year-old gelding made T oroughbred racing history when he galloped to his 19th straight victory. T e win tied him with Zenyatta and Pep- pers Pride as the only three T oroughbreds in North America to have won 19 races in a row.


T e winning streak began in December 2, 2010. On December 13, 2011, Rapid Redux tied Triple Crown winner Citation’s 1948 record for the most wins in a single calendar year. T e Citation record was 19 wins in one year. Rapid Redux’s December 13th win however, put his total winning streak up to 21 victories in a row. He reached another milestone when he won the sixth race at Laurel Park on January 4, 2012. T e win marked the 22nd consecutive victory for the now six-year-old. J. D. Acosta was in the irons for the win. “T e math is unbeliev- able when you think about it. It is tough to win this many in a row. T e durability is his greatest trait,” Cole said after the race. Hilltop’s Cha Ching HTF was the overall USDF/ GAIG Foal Champion. Several other stallions standing at Hilltop or horses in training at the farm also had great sea- sons, including Baxter CCF, Boxster A, Doctor Wendell MF, De Feiner Star and Popeye.
