Eclipse Award Winners Kudos to Animal Kingdom (Champion T ree

Year Old Male) and Black Jack Blues (Cham- pion Steeplechase Horse), for each winning a 2011 Eclipse Award. Animal Kingdom, owned by Team Valor Inter- national and trained by Graham Motion, made a big impression on the racing world when he won the Kentucky Derby, his fi rst start on dirt. He placed second in the Preakness Stakes and then eighth in the Belmont after a bump at the start lead to an injury that sidelined the three year old for the rest of the season. Fresh off the plane from Ireland, Black Jack

Blues won the Dot Smithwick Memorial Stakes by 4 1/4 lengths for owner Irv Naylor and train- er J.W. Delozier. He then went on to win the Grand National at Far Hills earning him a total of $171,000 in just two starts for 2011.
