AS Art students exhibit at Royal College of Art
Luisa-Maria Bennett's work which was exhibited at the Royal College of Art ‘Which department was this?’ Royal College of Art tutor
‘I’m not surprised that one of the tutors thought it was RCA students because the work was so mature and thoughtful and quite brave’
Ivan Ward, Freud Museum
The two comments were one of the many compliments the students received when their work was exhibited for a two day ‘pop up’ exhibition in the Hockney Gallery at the Royal College of Art. The quality and thoughtfulness of the pieces on display was truly impressive. This was the fi rst time that A level students’ work has been exhibited in this way and it was
a once in a lifetime opportunity for those involved. The work was made following two workshops at the Freud Museum run by Andrew Vallance, a PhD research student at the RCA. He encouraged students to use photographs of unknown family members and to create a piece of work in response to them.
