Highlighting the Anaheim program’s accomplish- ments late last month and into the New Year were championship efforts at the Anaheim Jr. Ducks- hosted Winter Fest showcase, at which five of the six participating Wildcat teams advanced to the title game with three taking home banners.
One of those clubs was the Wildcats’ Mite B team,

Forward Ryan Gumlia led the Wildcats in goals (eight) and points (10) for the tournament, and for- ward Aidan Wisdom added a team-high four assists in the five games. Between the pipes, Seth Hird picked up all four wins.
In the Pee Wee B division, the Maik Tatavosian- coached Wildcats blanked the Ontario Lady Reign, 3-0, to finish Winter Fest with a 3-1-1 record and the championship.
Offensively, forward Jinsoo Yi put home a team- high five goals and eight points, while forward Colin McQuade added four assists. In goal, Taylor Huynh recorded three wins.

The Wildcats also took part in the prestigious SuperSeries AAA Elite Hockey Tournament, hosted at El Segundo’s Toyota Sports Center, in late December, as the program’s 2001 Squirt team, coached by Frank, and Kabanets’ 2000 Pee Wee AA team competed against some top-flight competition from around the country.

Anaheim’s Squirt B1 team (3-1-1), coached by Paul Esdale, and Bantam B squad (3-2), coached by Tatavosian, finished in second place in their respec- tive divisions at Winter Fest.
“All six of our teams played well and came through with terrific efforts, and we couldn’t be happi- er for our three teams that won championships,” said Wildcats club president Ben Frank. “What’s great to see is everyone improving as the season progresses, both individually and as a team, and that’s only going to continue in the coming months.”

The Squirts fashioned a 4-2 record at the event to finish in second place in their division. For the tournament, forward Dylan Florit notched a Wildcats-best eight points on six goals, while forwards Matthew Odom (three goals) and Buckley Roberts (four) rang up six points apiece. The Wildcats also hosted their Winter Holiday Shootout tournament at KHS Ice Arena over the holidays. Division winners included the Anaheim Jr. Ducks (Midget 16 A) and the Los Angeles Jr. Kings 2 team (Squirt B).
