With just weeks to go before Metav 2012 opens its doors – the show organiser is reporting a healthy take up of exhibition space from companies spanning 22 different countries. The show, which takes place at the Exhibition Centre in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 28th February to 3rd
March 2012 will
occupy more than 32,000m² of net exhibition space.
“In general, compared to the last event in 2010, exhibitors are booking significantly larger stands for the 2012 show,” observed Dr Wilfried Schäfer, executive director for show organiser, VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’
Association). “We’re particularly pleased that manufacturers of high precision machine tools are increasingly using Metav as a showcase for new innovation,” he added. “Growth is up 70% in this area.” Market leaders in production technology from all over the world use the international trade fair but the show is particularly popular with customers in Northern Germany, the Benelux countries, Scandinavia, the UK, and Eastern Europe. Indeed for some, according to surveys carried out by the
organiser, Metav is the primary metalcutting event in Europe. “In addition, being held early in the year, Metav offers a timely opportunity for customers to plan their investment budgets and fully investigate the technology on offer under one roof,” Dr Schäfer continued. “Moreover, visitors can take advantage of a high calibre complementary programme on the themes of medical technology, composite machining, efficient manufacturing and cutting edge innovations in metalcutting technology.”
, exhibition space sales are already 23% higher than they were for MACH 2010, according to show organiser, the MTA.
With Hall 5 almost sold out and stand bookings for Hall 4 coming in thick and fast, four months before MACH 2012 opens on April 16th
MACH 2012 will unveil three new technology zones: the Welding Village; the Abrasives and Grinding Zone and the Engineering and Laser zone. Also, the Metalforming Machinery Makers’ Association Pavilion has doubled in size in comparison to 2010. MACH 2012 pavilions enhance the visitor experience and provide an excellent opportunity for companies across a range of diverse sectors to display their products.
Dr Martin Sharp, President of The Association of Laser Users (AILU) said: “The AILU have, for the first time, taken a pavilion area at MACH 2012, showing our confidence in the future growth of UK manufacturing and the role of laser materials processing in this future.”
Adrian Hawkins, National Chairman of the Association of Welding Distribution (AWD) added: “As our country now recognises the necessity to expand the UK manufacturing industry to supplement the ailing financial services sector, AWD is delighted to support MACH 2012 with the inclusion of the AWD ‘Welding World Village’ where many of our members will present current process and gas technology in support of an expanding UK industry.” For many companies, MACH represents the premier
show for UK manufacturers. Tony Saunders, UK sales director at Yamazaki Mazak commented: “At MACH 2012 Mazak will be displaying a selection of our latest CNC lathes, machining centres and multi-tasking machines, from over 200 models across our range, several of which will be making their UK debuts. All of our machines will be in live metalcutting action, demonstrating new techniques and capabilities in machining, programming and factory management.” Paul Rhodes, chairman of the Engineering Technology Group concurred: “I look forward to MACH and the chance to show Britain’s manufacturing engineers what we can offer them in terms of expertise, experience and equipment.
“The event is an ideal platform for the high technology, high productivity solutions we offer. At the show we will have the latest generation multi-tasking turning centre from Nakamura- Tome, the first 5-axis vertical machining centre from Feeler and Handtmann’s HBZ Compact Cell, a high productivity horizontal machining system for the aerospace industry and many more.”
