DO YOU NEED AN EXCUSE TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE? Perhaps you just need that ‘little something’ that will convince your family to tag along on a road trip. Tese BC towns are home to some of the oddest – yet coolest - roadside attractions. Starting in the city that birthed the Trans Canada Highway - through the picturesque forests, mountains and lakes of southern BC; ending in the ‘most patriotic town in Canada’ - all you need to bring with you for entertainment, are your eyes.


Mile Zero, Victoria While not a huge statue (or giant ball of belly button lint!) Mile Zero, at the intersection of Douglas Street and Dallas Road in Victoria, is the western end/beginning, of the Trans Canada Highway. Tis is the perfect place to begin your road trip.

The World’s Tallest Totem Pole, Alert Bay Standing 173 ſt/56.4 m high (as tall as a 5 story building), this totem pole in Alert Bay, BC, towers over the small village of approximately 556 people; over half of which are the First Nations People of the traditional Kwakwaka’wakw territory.


The Penticton Peach, Penticton Penticton, BC, is home to Peachfest – an annual South Okanagan Valley tradition that celebrates the peach harvest - and is also where you can find the giant peach that proudly marks the entrance to this small town. About the size of a hot air balloon, this colourful tourist attraction seconds as a seasonal beach- side concession stand.


The Inukshuk, Vancouver Tis striking sculpture, originally built to be used in the Northwest Territories pavilion at Expo ’86, is now located at the southern end of English Bay beach in Vancouver, BC.
