Now, why travel Mexico? Te first of my reasons for this destination - the one that is most prominently housed in my memory - is because of the ‘way of life’ the Mexican people lead. Te people of this culture deeply value their families, yet are still very welcoming and hospitable to outsiders. I feel fortunate to have made some wonderful memories during my time in this country; memories I now fondly refer to as my “soul moments”. Te second motivation for my love of travel in Mexico

is its amazingly diverse geography. Much of the scenery is breath-taking. From the spectacular coastlines to the magnificent Copper Canyon; from the huge cosmopolitan cities to the quaint, small towns; from the mountains and lakes to the jungles and wildlife, this country’s vast expanse has a plethora of places to explore. Now, when you are able to experience Mexico whilst in the pseudo- comfort of your own home, in an RV, it truly allows for an all - encompassing experience. RV parks in Mexico vary, many having the capacity to

house anywhere from 10 to over 100 rigs at one time. One of the largest parks - and one of my favorites - is La Peñita, located approximately 1 hour’s drive north from Puerto Vallarta. With picturesque, tiered landscaping, this locale has a view of the ocean from most of its sites. Tere are numerous opportunities for social interaction during your stay at La Penita. Ranging from daily volleyball games in the pool and Sunday hamburger nights, to taco Tuesdays - complete with margaritas – there are plenty of chances for you to mingle. In fact, this RV park offers so many different activities, you need to make sure you still take time to relax. It was in this same RV park that we prepared for the

arrival of my mother. Here is an 86-year-old woman with paralysis, severe arthritis, and advanced COPD - all of which inhibit her mobility. Totally dependent on her wheelchair and having required 24-7 nursing care for the last six years, she was about to arrive in Mexico for the first time. My husband spent several days visiting the local hardware store and building a series of inter-connectable ramps, thus allowing us to get my mother in and out of our truck - and our 5th

wheel. Te sense of community in these

RV parks is so overwhelming that, almost as soon as my husband had gotten out his jig saw and hammer, several fellow campers had already appeared, ready to lend a hand. My book, that recounts many such experiences, can be
