1. Dating from 2000, this rare ‘Millennium’ Hartmann & Weiss sporting rifl e, with six interchangeable barrels and heavily decorated by Belgium master-engraver Alain Lovenberg, will be offered for sale at Norfolk-based sporting gun specialists Holt’s on December 15. It took Lovenberg a year to complete the project, which included intricate fl oral, acanthus and geometric motifs, a feat which the auction house believes unlikely to be replicated. Estimate £140,000-160,000.

2. This is a silhouette of John Millbank – the 3ft tall ‘Cheltenham Muffi n Man’, who plied his trade in a beaver hat and white apron to the locals for much of the 19th century. Several portraits of him appear in Cheltenham’s local museum. Chorley’s of Prinknash Abbey Park in Gloucestershire will offer this 6 x 4½in (15 x 11cm) example (estimate £120-150) on
December 15. Highlights include several fi rst editions of Ian Fleming’s James Bond books estimated at £500-800 and a pair of genre scenes by Edward Bird (1772- 1819) estimated at £6000-8000. Contact 01452 344499

3. A private collection of Trafalgar and Lord Nelson tankards and jugs will go under the hammer at Charles Ross auctioneers on December 15 at the Old
Town Hall in Woburn, Bedfordshire. The 12-lot group will include an early 19th century baluster-handled mug decorated with a vignette of Nelson below the words England expects every man to do his duty (estimate £200-300) and a late 18th or early 19th century handled tankard decorated with Nelson engaging the Toulon fl eet at the Battle of the Nile in 1798 (estimate £250-350).
