OPEN DOOR MISSION CELEBRATES HOMEAID PROJECT AT DEDICATION
HomeAid Houston and Remodeler Captain John Gillette with Craftsmanship by John joined the Open Door Mission to dedicate the completion of renovations at the Mission’s East End location.
The team converted an exterior space into two offices for counseling services. As the Remodeler Captain, Gillette donated his time and crew.
The Open Door Mission offers a drug and alcohol recovery program, convalescent care, educational and vocational opportunities, low-income transitional housing and other services for men.
The renovation required closing in an existing porch, insulating and adding drywall and installing air conditioning, heating, electrical outlets and door openings. HomeAid purchased furniture to outfit the reception area from Amber Ginther at Staples, at a substantial discount.
Attending the dedication ceremony were representatives from Open Door Mission: Drew Kanaly, board president, and Santos Ramirez, doorway counselor.
