INDEX staff gifts iPad 2, from £399, iStore Tunbridge Wells, as before
Tracey Williams, Offi ce Manager
The locket my parents gave me a couple of years ago was magical – I’d asked for, “something sentimental” and this is what arrived. What made it really special is the fact they’d bothered to get their photos taken so their pictures could go straight inside. I sobbed my eyes out on Christmas morning when I opened it.
Tracey Strachan, Advertising Manager
My best gift ever was my husband – we married last Christmas Eve. I’m more than happy to keep him for at least another year!

The 26 Nimbus Oregon Muni mountaineering unicycle, £550, from

Two hamsters, Salt and Pepper, made my Christmas when I was about nine. They came with their own cage, but unfortunately the bottom of it fell out as soon as I picked it up, so much of Christmas Day was spent persuading the little guys to return home. This year I’d like a holiday for three in Italy, please.
Chris Mason, Designer
Last year my girlfriend gave me a unicycle, which I’ve just about mastered – it’s only taken me 12 months! This year, I’d like a Brooks saddle for my conventional bike.
Anna Lambert, Writer
I was bowled over by a boyfriend’s gift of a shoe-box containing two old-fashioned champagne coupes, a mini bottle of champagne, some water biscuits and a pot of caviar, a 1950’s Teach Yourself Ballroom Dancing book and a CD to dance to. It showed real imagination – so, reader, I married him. This year’s dream gift? I’d like a pre-booked ticket to the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at the National Gallery so I can avoid the queues.

I’ll never forget the model Massey Ferguson tractor – blue with orange wheels – I got, aged fi ve, as a joint gift from my three maiden aunts – very special. Given my job, I guess it’s no surprise to hear I’m getting an Ipad this Christmas. Oh, and I’d like a summer house for the garden – though I can’t quite see Santa fi tting it onto his sleigh…
