Here’s Katie Turrell’s pick of gigs for December...
Anti-Nowhere League 2 December. Whitstable Harbour (7.30pm, tickets £15). A gig from hardcore rock anarchists supported by the Members.
Cut the Funk 2 December. Deco 5 (9pm, free entry). A fi ve piece jazz funk and soul band who never play the same way twice.
The Zombies 2 December. The Gulbenkian Theatre (7.45pm, tickets £18) This cult British band return for a 50th anniversary tour.

EP Soul Children 3 December. Deco 5 (9pm, free entry). A night jamming with a funky and bluesy style led by soul child Emily Peasegood.
DJ Format and DJ ReadyBreak 10 December. The Farmhouse (9pm, tickets £8). Two DJs, no waiting. These two dish up a night of good old fashioned hip hop.
Martyn Joseph 18 December. The Kingston Barn (8pm, tickets £16). An acoustic singer songwriter, from Cardiff who’s been dubbed a ‘Welsh Bruce Springsteen’.

She wakes around 7am, and after a light breakfast, takes some time for meditation and yoga to prepare herself for the day. She then reads through her lines for the scenes they will be working on that day. Rehearsals usually run until fi ve o’clock, with a short break for lunch and
occasionally into the evenings too. “It’s hard work, but such a laugh, the whole cast are
great to work with.” This is Sue’s fi rst visit to Canterbury and during any breaks in the rehearsal schedule, she likes to get on her bike and explore. “It’s a beautiful city and the new Marlowe building is amazing. With so many theatres struggling in the current climate of funding cuts, it is wonderful to see the investment that has been made here.”
Sue worries about the over-commercialisation of Christmas and says that pantomimes remind us of simple values by focusing on children which is what Christmas is really all about. Cinderella runs at The

Band of the month: Mitch Emery
The Kent music scene is buzzing with talk of Mitch Emery who, at just 17, is an accomplished musician with a wicked sense of humour and amazing stage presence. Having just released his fi rst EP, Emery shows no signs of slowing down and looks set to entertain audiences throughout 2012.
