My best-ever Christmas present

The Index team share tales of their favourite – and not so favourite – gifts. Here’s hoping you fi nd what you’re looking for under the tree this Christmas….

Fiat 500 TwinAir, £11,600 Tom Marsh, Design & Production Assistant

I was desperate, aged ten, for a BB gun. My parents did a really convincing job of telling me that – yet again (I’d been asking for one for what seemed like years) – Father Christmas wasn’t going to come up with the goods, so my joy at actually fi nding one in my stocking knew no bounds. This year? I want the latest Ipod and the fi rst CD I’ll be downloading will be Led Zeplin’s greatest hits – rock on!

Armani Exchange Silicone diamante- embellished watch, £150, www.asos.com

60

iPod Nano, from £115, iStore, Upper Level, Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells, 0845 521 2140

Mandy Temple, Beauty Editor

My fi ancée knew I wanted something adorable, so a couple of Christmasses ago, he surprised me with a dwarf lop-eared rabbit. The only problem was that Pancakes turned out to be something of a diva – she ran amok in our fl at, pooed on every available surface and chewed through everything she could fi nd – even giving herself an electric shock when she munched through a light cord. Eventually we knew something had to give – so we match-made her with a full-sized buck rabbit named Chief. Thankfully, she now lives with him – and in someone else’s home. I guess the experience made me realise that, just as the slogan says, a pet is for life, not just for Christmas. What am I after this year? A blue, eco-friendly Fiat 500 would do nicely – perfect for nipping into Tunbridge Wells’ tighter parking spaces.

Debbie Wesbroom, Senior Designer The fi rst present I can remember being really

excited about was a Mountain Bike. I had bikes before, but, at 11, this was my fi rst, proper, grown- up bike – and having it meant exploring independently. My parents hid it at our neighbour’s, and when it turned up on Christmas morning we all worked hard at pretending we believed Father Christmas had brought it.

These days, my tastes are a bit more sedentary – I’d love an Armani Exchange watch.
