Sefton Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced organisations with the drive and commitment to unlock the potential of two major cultural destination assets. The Expressions for the two venues are separate but combined interest in both from suitable operators will be accepted.
The first venue is The Atkinson, a 6,000+ sq m £16m gallery, museum, theatre, music and performance space with library situated in the middle of one of England's finest streets - Lord St. It is presently under construction and has been designed to quickly establish itself as a cultural centre of excellence in terms of quality, space, flexibility and programme. It is positioned to appeal to both local and visitor markets.
The second is the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre which reopened in 2008 after benefiting from over £8m of investment on refurbishment and expansion. It is adjacent to the new 133 room Ramada Plaza 4* hotel which acts as headquarters hotel to the impressive conference, exhibition and banqueting facilities the venue offers. In addition to circa 2000 sq m of flexible
event/conference/exhibition/hospitality space the theatre element comprises 1630 seat auditorium.
Both venues are located in 'Southport - England's Classic Resort' - which itself has been transformed over the last 15yrs with over £200m of investment. The 15 minute drive time local population is over 90000 and the Borough of Sefton enjoys well over 10m visitor days annually. Sefton Council uses an e-business portal (known as the Chest) to enable you to view details of both of these, and all forthcoming contract opportunities for Sefton and other Councils in the North West.
