Gain experience. Gain knowledge. Gain an advantage.
You will have many opportunities to take what you learn in the classroom and apply it to real-world experiences. Depending on your field of study and your interests, there are 3 basic types of experiential learning:
> Clinical education placements in our health fields of study > Student teaching in our educational fields of study > Internships offered in a wide range of fields of study
Through placements, practicums, and internships, you will enhance classroom knowledge and develop and sharpen skills that are transferable to a variety of occupations. Plus, you will learn about yourself: your values, priorities, interests, and career goals. The more you learn about yourself, the greater your decision-making ability about your professional interests will be. These experiences also enhance your resumé and establish a professional network of contacts for references or career advice.
