Towards a Framework Convention on Global Health

A coalition of civil society organizations and academics are creating a Joint Action and Learning Initiative on National and Global Responsibilities for Health (JALI) to clarify the services to which everyone is entitled under the right to health, the national and global responsibilities for securing this right, and global governance structures that could make a global health agreement possible. As this article explains, JALI will research key issues involving health rights and responsibili- ties, with the goal of securing a global health agreement and supporting civil society mobilization around the human right to health.

Cultural Heritage Law and the Temple of Preah Vihear Dispute

In 1962, after a lengthy dispute between Cambodia and Thailand, the International Court of Justice awarded the ancient temple of Preah Vihear to Cambodia. More than 40 years later the Temple of Preah Vihear was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As this article discusses, since then Cambodian-Thai relations rapidly deteriorated and the situation is once again before the ICJ.
