Constansia’s family were badly affected by the evictions and were part of the 300 that purchased the land in Chamazi. With her husband, Constansia volunteered to help construct their house, including digging the trench for the foundations and helping to make bricks. It took two months to build their new home and they were the first to move in. Having settled, Constansia and her husband are helping their neighbours to build their house so that they can be near each other once again. Now with water, fresh air and no longer at risk of eviction, Constansia told us: “Life is beautiful”.
