If you haven’t heard about the new Bajan group Coverdrive, then dudes, seriously, where


you been??? Their debut single ‘Lick Ya Down’ stormed the airwaves, catching all sorts of media attention case in point, theyve already graced the T4 studios. We headed over to Universal Records HQ to find out why they’re sooooo HOT! (We’ve got an exclusive video interview to prove it too!)


Coverdrive are lead singer Manda (Amanda), guitarist Barry ‘Bar-man’, bassist Jamar ‘Toast’ and drummer/vocalist T-Ray. And their sound is, as they dubbed it, Carib-Pop; a blend of pop, ska and rock. This über-talented young group (altogether, the group plays a whooping 15 instruments!) have a great dynamic and infectious personalities.


‘Lick Ya Down’ (a bajan term that means ‘knock you down’) is a breezy, bass-driven dancehall-pop track with a fun, playful video to boot. It certainly caught their Bajan icon Rihanna’s attention, who invited the band to open for her at her home-coming performance in Barbados. The single was released on Aug 28th and by the very next day had blazed its way up the charts to a record No. 7!!!


Coverdrive are most definitely HOT ones to watch. They’ve certainly got the Hotminute seal of approval and if you don’t agree, we’ll come LICK YA DOWN!!!
