WE REMINISCE.... What Happened To

The Whitehead Bros Your love is a 187…Just those four words and I think you should know exactly what group I’m talking about. Where you were when you first heard the track and what you were doing…Anyhow moving on. The Whitehead Bros – tore up the RnB circuit with the very same track back in 1994. Taken from their first and only album to date ‘Serious’. Brothers Kenny and Johnny Whitehead then went on to release another epic track ‘ Forget I Was a G’ which featured on the Jason’s Lyric soundtrack before they disappeared off the scene. Apparently as a result of poor records sales they were dropped from their label Motown Records in 1996. What a shame!

SYLEENA JOHNSON 2011 SHANACHIE ENT. STAR RATING: H H H

Syleena Johnson definitely hits the nail on the head with her latest offering ‘Underrated. It perfectly describes her presence in the music industry. Syleena has been around for a hot minute now,

with this being her fifth studio album. It’s strong, it’s bold and clearly demonstrates that she is still a strong contender among her female peers. It’s a good mixture of up-tempo club tracks and slow ballads, which display her incredible vocal range. Stand out tracks include ‘Little Things’, ‘The Champ’ and ‘A Boss’. This album is a notable effort with Syleena proving her music game is still strong.

Always on the look out for whats hot on the music scene hm reviews whats hot and whats not!...Simples!

’ ’ ’ Album of the month

ERIC ROBERSON MISTER NICE GUY 2011 DOME RECORDS STAR RATING: H H H H

Oooh I love me some Eric Roberson and for £5.99 on ITunes this album is a steal. Two words that spring to mind when talking about Eric’s music are ‘Quality’and ‘Consistency’. The album titled Mister Nice Guy is the first refreshing track to spill out of

your speakers…But wait it gets better with ‘Summer Time Anthem’ giving you that feeling of summer all over again. ‘Picture Perfect’ oozes Roberson’s signature style with Lil Brother lyricist Phonte adding his distinctive Hip Hop flavour. There are just too many good tracks to list. Roberson fans will not be disappointed with this offering, it’s definitely one for the collection.

LIL WAYNE THA CARTER IV

2011CASH MONEY RECORDS STAR RATING: H H H

It’s an interesting time in the world of Hip Hop with Jay Z and Kanye’s album dropping, The Game’s and Lil Wayne’s.

Tha Carter IV is a well-mastered fusion of music production, collaborations and lyrical affliction that we all have grown to love or hate Lil Wayne for. The list of collaborations is endless, you’ll be hard pressed to find any top Hip Hop heavy weights not featured on this album. RnB friendly tracks include So Special featuring John Legend and How To Hate featuring Mr Auto-tune himself T-Pain. For Lil Wayne’s ninth studio album it’s a passable compilation with no track close to being considered weak.

TEAM HIP HOP - RED CAFE FLY TOGETHER 2011 BAD BOY / INTERSCOPE Yep I’m back with another Hip Hop battle track, after annihilating team RnB last month! I’m bringing something to the table, something y’all might appreciate. Red Café’s new single ‘Fly Together’ featuring Mr Rick Ross with hooks provided by RnB singer and producer Ryan Leslie. Yep it’s a good RnB/Hip Hop combo with a crazy beat that works really well and no doubt it will have Team RnB fans swaying as to whose side is truly repping this month!

TEAM RNB - EMANNY FT. JOE BUDDEN I MESSED UP UNSIGNED Before I start in reply to your last remark whatever Les, the only reason my die hard RnB’sters will be swaying is cos’ of Ryan Leslie’s soulful vocals! DUN KNOW! Anyway two can play at that game!

With echoes of the late great MJ’s haughty vocals unsigned talent Emanny makes my Team RnB pick. Explicit lyrics aside this track is a sexy ode of a dude done wrong …..by a video vixen no doubt (just saying). Add in Budden’s oh so naughty rhymes and you’ve got a smokin’ hot track…. Bring it Les I dare you!
