One thing you have to love about these two countries are their football supporters, at times I had to remind myself that I was at a football game and not a carnival. Drums, giant flags, maracas, tambourines, trumpets you name it, these guys had it. Damiao’s 45th minute strike sent the Brazilian fans into delirium. The 22-year-old striker scored his first international goal and it proved to be the winner.

The Gold coast refused to lie down, and despite having ten men continued to compete with the samba boys. Annan had a solid game in the heart of the Ghanaian midfield, and displayed some great technical ability during the game. However Mr Ronaldinho must have given the poor lad nightmares when he nutmeged him in the centre of the park for the whole world to see. Both Ghanaians and Brazilians had to applaud the audacious efforts of ‘Ronnie’. Although there are reports that a lip reading specialist saw Annan saying ‘Chale Why?’ as the incident unfolded.

On a more serious note I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Ghana and their fans truly represented for Africa and were a huge contributor to the deafening but vibrant atmosphere. For the boys from Brazil it was business as usual. Flair, extravagance with a splash of tenacity, and to be honest we’d expect nothing less.
