Ghana Vs Brazil

hotevents E

lectric, magical and euphoric are three words that could aptly describe the atmosphere of this intriguing encounter at Fulham FC. Ghana vs Brazil, Samba vs Jollof Rice, the Kings of the Americas against Africa’s most in form side. In true African fashion I arrived late to the game, largely due to the huge number of fans who travelled from far and wide to see some of the worlds best. Ronaldinho, Lucio, Pato and Marcello were just some of the Brazilian superstars on top form for this one. The most eye-catching star of the night however, had to be teen sensation Neymar! This is a name worth remembering. Donning a mohawk, Neymar Santos Junior, who is said to be worth around £30m, caused the valiant Ghanaian defence problems for large spells of the game.

The Black Stars found themselves without their talisman and national hero, the one and only Asamoah Gyan, who was recovering from injury. This meant the likes of Jonathan Mensah, Derek Boateng and Isaac Vorsah, would need to up their game, if they were to beat the Brazilians, who as a nation had won the World Cup a record 5 times!

Ghana’s star man proved to be their keeper Adam Kwarasey, who made a string of fine saves. His task was made all the more difficult when Ghana were reduced to ten men, following Daniel Opare’s sending off half way through the first half. To play with a man down against any opposition is a tall order, so hats off to the Black Stars who gave a good account of themselves given the circumstances.
