Are you ready to meet one of the hardest working actors in the UK????

Wil Johnson

I was honoured to be invited by the man himself, Wil Johnson, behind the scenes of his latest project ‘Amina’ which he not only stars in but also produces. My mission was to find out more about Wil Johnson the actor, the producer and Wil Johnson the man. So armed with my barrage of questions off I went to an undisclosed location to get the skinny (and it’s all caught on camera guys so check out the video).

The illustrious career of Wil Johnson is indeed a credit to his talent and work ethic. A career that includes; Cracker, Baby Father, Othello, Macbeth, My Children My Africa, Noah’s Wife, Clocking Off, The Bill, Casualty, London’s Burning, Waterloo Road, Deadman, YES, Adulthood, Pimp, In A Better World, Anuvahood….. the list could go on and on. Wil has starred in just about every primetime UK hit TV series known to man, has treaded so many theatre boards they’re practically worn thin and has graced the big screen countless times.

This multitude of roles showcases his formidable range and ability to embody characters with a charisma that is truly captivating. With such natural acting flair it’s hard to believe that Wil once toyed with the idea of athletics. Word on the street is he could’ve made the Olympics. Talking of the street and this is straight from the horses mouth did you know Wil used to Break-dance alongside Jonzi

D of Breakin’ convention fame. It seems our Wil is a man of many many talents.

Showcasing another one of his talents, Wil is now turning his head to producing. His latest project ‘Amina’ sees him reunited with Nollywood Director Christian Ashaiku who he worked with on 2009”s ‘Disoriented Generation’. ‘Amina’ also stars Nollywood heavyweights Omotola Jalade and Van ‘mmmm mmmm’ Vicker (yes I added the mmm mmm in there, female Nollywood fans know what I’m talking about) and Mr. Vincent Regan (ok I admit I had a real fan moment meeting Mr Regan). Kudos to Wil in his producer hat for assembling this stellar cast, but more importantly for seeing the potential in Nollywood film and having the gumption to get involved and raise the bar in this genre. It can only mean big things for this movie when it is released. I can see this being a crossover hit, which will only solidify Nollywood as a film genre to be reckoned with in mainstream arenas.

Can’t wait for Amina to hit cinemas, but till then here’s some behind the scenes goss to keep you going.

Wil, I know our tix to the premiere are in the post.
