Digital TV switchover scam alert

TONBRIDGE and Malling Council has warned that bogus salesmen have been preying on vulnerable residents in the run-up to the switchover to digital TV. The council says that the vast major-

ity of aerials will be more than adequate to pick up the new signals after the bor- ough goes digital nextMay and June and no upgrade is required.

However, rogue traders have been try-

ing to persuade people to buy a new aer- ial, which turns out to be inferior to the one replaced. The council is working with Digital

UK and the BBC to help vulnerable res- idents through the switchover but stressed that none of these organisations will call without an appointment.
