Janet Farrar- Royce will share her expertise in electric strings. For a special treat, check out the two presentations honoring our young composers competition winners, stop by Professor Bill Moersch’s (University of Illinois) clinic on timpani technique, or drop in on one of the JEM Division’s guitar or hand drumming clinics with the legendary Will Schmid.

As you can see, there will be many reasons for string teachers from across the state and all levels to “See you in

Peoria” this year. To make sure that we continue to grow the quantity and quality of the orchestra division clinics and performances, please plan to submit your proposal. T e deadline is March 1, 2012 to apply for the 2013 convention. See the applications in this issue. Active participation of the membership is what builds the division. Be the future that you want to see.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Jeremy Marino! He will begin his Vice President Elect duties offi cially at the beginning of the Illinois Music Education Conference 2012 and take over as VP at the end of the 2013 conference. Jeremy has been a signifi cant contributor to IMEA activi- ties for years. He has what it takes to be a good leader for the division. I look forward to working closely with him for the next couple of years.
