Apologies I digress, for those who aren’t into sampling and tasting - do such people even exist? There was music, a taste world record attempt for Friday’s visitors and a variety of master classes provided by the Chefs theatre, Food theatre and Drinks theatre.

Here you could learn how to match food and wine, mix and shake cocktails and pick up tips from top Michelin star chefs. Even the kiddies got a look in with a “Kiddy Cooks for Budding Young Chefs” class. So literally all the family could learn to stun and amaze at dinner parties.

We stopped by the Chefs Theatre to see what culinary gems Jun Tanaka, Celebrity & Executive Chef at Pearl Restaurant imparted on the audience. We spent time with him after the show to find out more about his food, his career (you may recognise him from such shows as Market Kitchen and Saturday Kitchen) and whether or not we could score an invite to Pearl Restaurant’s Summer Seafood BBQ & Garden party. My best efforts were lost on the latter. Others who also shared their gastronomic wisdom over the three days were; Gary Lee -The Ivy, Angela Hartnett – Murano, Mike Brown- Daphne’s and a host more besides.

Foodies Festival is a great day out for all and you’re guaranteed to walk away with something. At the very least a pleasantly full belly or if you’re like me a myrestaurantcard (I couldn’t resist 50% off top London restaurants!!). Touring around the UK, Foodies Festival has also made stops at Hampton Court, Brighton, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh and its last stop will be in Oxford, which takes place Aug 27-29th. If you’re in the area you must get tickets, www. foodiesfestival.com or call 0871 230 5573!!!
