food glorious food
The guys at Foodies Festival sure know how to pick em’. On the gloriously HOT weekend of July 29th-31st foodies young and small descended on Battersea Park for a weekend of healthy gluttony (if there is such a thing??).
Arriving with empty bellies early Saturday afternoon the hm team were ready to start sampling what the extensive range of restaurant tents, bar pagodas, Harvey Nichols Food market and the taste market had to offer. Everything from Jerk Shacks (mmmm I can still smell the aroma of BBQ Jerk) to succulent Aussie BBQ, Italian gelato to decadent cupcakes and desserts. Our dear friend Levi Roots was of course in on the action with his truck. I can’t begin to tell you how happy I was to find that his famous, delicious, sumptuous ginger cake was on board.
As your taste buds tingle and noises reminiscent of Homer Simpson start to emanate from your lips do I dare go on? Well in the interests of the journalistic oath I must. Besides I haven’t even begun to talk about the beverages Mojitos, fruit ice teas, Toffee Vodka, Pommery Champagne, Rum in coconut milk served in actual coconuts…yes Coconuts!! And the Coeur de Cognac signature lounge, who knew Cognac wasn’t just for the slippers and pipe brigade. After spending time with a Cognac-ista (you know like barista, ok I made it up) we realised Cognac is nothing to be sniffed at! I was super miffed to find out after the fact that they were running a comp to win a VIP trip to Cognac. It included a gastronomic lunch prepared by a Remy Martin Chef people!
