Renishaw announces major expansion plans
E
ngineering company Renishaw has announcing a series of expansion plans designed to provide additional capacity to cope with an increased demand for its measurement and healthcare products.
These include the acquisition of a Bosch manufacturing facility in Wales and the submission of planning applications to extend its facilities in Gloucestershire. The moves come at a time when the company has announced record group results for both revenue (£288.7 million) and profit (£80.4m) for the year ended 30 June 2011. The same month, Renishaw exchanged contracts to acquire the Bosch manufacturing facility in Miskin, South Wales. The purchase will be completed on 30 September.
Renishaw is also in discussions with Stroud District Council about a possible extension to its headquarters at New Mills near Wotton-under-Edge, as well as extensions to its healthcare products facility at Charfield and machine shop at Stonehouse. Sir David McMurtry, Renishaw’s chairman

and chief executive (pictured), said: “This is an exciting time for Renishaw, but our rapid growth has presented challenges with space, both to accommodate the new equipment required to manufacture an ever expanding range of products, and the numerous people that we are currently recruiting for all aspects of our business. “The new site acquisition and proposed expansions to our Gloucestershire facilities are a necessary part of ensuring for the longer term that we can continue to prosper and create high quality jobs in the UK.”
