INDEX business Canterbury 4

Business Do you know about Canterbury 4 Business – and can you afford not to? It’s a public-private partnership aiming to develop the sustainable economic development of the district.

One of the partnership’s main functions is to get things moving on issues that affect economic growth. One example being the A2 sliproads. It also forges links with schools to ensure leavers can provide for the needs of local businesses. As well as being a voice in the wider world for business owners, it is an excellent source of news via its website and newsletter. For more information, see

The Whitefriars security team has been shortlisted in the ‘Security Team of the Year’ category of the highly regarded SCEPTRE Awards. The awards recognise best practice in the shopping centre

industry. The Security Team of the Year category focuses on the contribution made by the team to the centre’s security, effects on crime levels, feedback from police, retailers and customers and training successes.

Commenting on the team’s shortlisting, Whitefriars Manager Peter Scutt says: “Security officers are very much valued as the public face of Whitefriars. Their high regard for the welfare of store staff and shoppers is reflected in an almost unprecedented customer satisfaction rating of 94% in a 2010 survey.”

The panel, which was

previously 250-strong, now consists of 60 deputies and Nicola Rostron was chosen from more than 600 applications. She is the only deputy appointed in East Kent, and one of only three in Kent.
