September News Hop to it

Faversham will re-live the glory-days of hop picking, when pickers came down from London for a working holiday in the Garden of England – and you can travel there in style on a special steam train running from Canterbury.

Faversham Hop Festival,

Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 September, promises to be a jam-packed weekend for the whole family. On the Sunday there will be a Spitfire Steam Train made up of carriages from the 1950s and 1960s and featuring a bar with casks of Shepherd Neame beer.

The carnival atmosphere

attracts more than 20,000 people to the historic market town, with street entertainers, local fare and live music on three stages and in pubs. Fresh hop bines will be available, as well as crafts. Britain’s oldest brewer

Shepherd Neame, is opening its doors for tours, tastings and hoppers’ lunches over the weekend.

The organisers recommend that you book your seat on the train and your place on the brewery tour by visiting www.shepherdneame.co.uk or by calling 01795 542016.
