The Sixth International Design Education Forum conference is hosted by the Fac- ulty of Art, Design and Architecture & Vi- sual Identities in Art and Design Research Centre at the University of Johannesburg and will take place on 7 & 8 September 2011. The conference will comprise ple- nary sessions and presentations around the conference theme and sub-themes. In 2011, the Design Education Forum of Southern Africa is celebrating its 20th anni- versary and in so doing, marks an important milestone in its reflection on design educa- tion from the past, present as well as vi- sions for the future. The conference theme - 20/20 Design Vision - offers participants the opportunity to focus on many interest- ing and engaging debates that range from an overview of the state of Design Educa- tion in the last 20 years to more impor- tantly to offer visions beyond the present. DEFSA encourages cross- and multidisci- plinary or peripheral design education de- bates presented by academics, researchers and practitioners that incorporate a wide spectrum of research methods and ap- proaches associated with design teaching, learning and research.
