The first COMMS EXPO awards were handed out during the event in the Barbican. These awards are voted for by the readers of NETCOMMS EUROPE and recognise companies who have contributed the most to the industry in the past 12 months. The awards were presented at a drinks reception after the first day of the show The winners were:

Network Infrastructure Product of the Year, for the 303 Cabinet – Cabling Supplier of the Year – COMMS EXPO Green Award – Award for Outstanding Commitment to the Industry – Test and Measurement Product of the Year, for the DTX 800 – Award for Innovation, for the Celsius temperature monitoring system –

Andrew Jones of Alquist Consulting explained the true significance of the Carbon Reduction Commitment, which will have enormous impact on the data centre industry. In the face of the CRC, Andrew shared techniques that can be used to monitor and reduce energy consumption. Continuing the theme of
carbon reduction, Carrie Higbie of Siemon looked at how to design a data centre which conforms to standards and meets companies’ targets for going green. COMMS EXPO 2011 was also
privileged to be chosen by Panduit as the setting for the first public announcement of the results of its six-year research programme in the field of fibre optics. Dr Rick Pimpinella explained how some long held

visitors from across all sort of vertical markets. Representatives from leading banks, from airports, from retail, from data centre operators, and from government were all in attendance. Visitors and exhibitors alike left the
event very satisfied. Ian Bankhurst, Managing Director of Comms Buyer Network, commented, “The presentations at Comms Expo were extremely informative; much of what was covered will have real practical use for our business. We also found that the quality of the visitors was considerably higher than we anticipated.” COMMS EXPO 2012 will return to
