Knowledge and Networking
Highlights of our Achievements Networking and Sharing Practice
Networking and sharing practice is a key part of our priorities and is at the core of how we do things at North West Employers. We share knowledge and practice, provide benchmarking data and exploit our connector role across the public sector organisations in the North West to provide real networking opportunities in our key areas of activity.

Coaching Network
Councillor Development Network
North West Strategic Scrutiny Network
What we’ve done:
• this year we have continued to support existing networks
• established new networks to reflect the new priorities for the public sector e.g Public Health Workforce, Economy Lead Councillors
• we have worked in partnership with NWIEP to support networks and work towards a sustainable system to support improvement
• developed skills to enable peer to peer support What next:
• continue to develop our role as a connector to help member organisations find out what is going on and our work in 2011/12 will focus on developing a “hub” to be the “go to” place for networks
• the launch of the NW Connex virtual platform presents a fantastic opportunity for colleagues to view the activities of other networks and build new connections for collaborative work and learning, increasing the value of the networks overall
I have attended NW Employer’s Learning and Development network for over 10 years. The network is a really useful source of information, best practice and guidance on a wide range of L&D matters. The support of colleagues and their willingness to share ideas has been very valuable to me, particularly coming from a small district authority without a dedicated L&D resource. The scope of the network has developed over the years as it consistently strives to remain relevant and focused on the current L&D challenges in local government and the public sector in general.
