Desert Sky Community School Nurtures the Whole Child

ntering its sixth year, Desert Sky Com- munity School, in Tucson, a tuition-free


charter elementary school inspired by Waldorf Education, nurtures not only the head, but the heart and hands of students. The school currently serves children kindergarten through fifth grade and plans growing to serve pre-K through eighth grade. In kindergarten, children are immersed in


a rich curriculum of imaginative play, circle games, acting out stories, singing and artistic and handwork activities that in- clude painting, drawing, sculpting, knitting and sewing. A healthy daily rhythm, good nutrition and as little electronic media interaction as possible are encour- aged at home and at school. Starting in first grade, children are taught academics in an immersion for-

mat, spending the first two hours of the day studying a given subject for three to five weeks before going on to another academic “main lesson” block, and then spiraling back to the same discipline later in the year for deeper immersion and understanding. The rest of the school day is devoted to singing and instrumental music, multiple foreign languages, arts and crafts, movement and academic practice for core subjects.

IHI Installs New Technology T


he Intestinal Health In- stitute (IHI), in Tucson, is


now using a brand-new, FDA- approved colon hydrotherapy device, the Toxygen BSC-UV, made by Dotolo Research Corporation. The clinic and Colon Hydrotherapy College are using the new Dotolo disposable kits that allow for easy insertion and an excellent cleanse. The clinic is open daily to


administer colon hydrotherapy sessions. The college teaches the curriculum of the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy (IACT) to students worldwide. The purposes of colon hydrotherapy are to remove
