Nancy Pond were beau- tiful but the bugs were thicker than ever—more bug spray. We enjoyed the view from the ledges at the outlet of Norcross Pond and the trail relo- cation along both ponds, just a little higher and away from the water’s edge, kept our feet nicely dry. Water falls nicely down
the nearly vertical Nancy Cascades but they are cruel to descend after hiking so far, our knees were screaming. Past the remains of the Lucy Mill we made our way down. We hiked a total of 16
Charlie standing in the talus field on the side of Vose Spur! PATENAUDE from 50
Road. So we continued on to Nancy Pond. We were deep in the
Pemi Wilderness and the old railroad bed and old logging road were as fast hiking. It is terribly sad how in the Wilderness areas the log bridges are being allowed to rot away and some brush snipping
here and there would help a lot. We met another couple
out backpacking on their way from Nancy Pond to Carrigain. We chat- ted about our day. Then the man asked us if we could drive a standard. “Yes!” we answered. He asked us to leave his truck where our car was

miles, drove 3 miles in a borrowed truck and 7.5 hours later we were back in our own car driving down Sawyer River Road. We were only a little late for supper. Have Fun!
