knew Mungo Jerry wasn’t the laureate he probably considered himself to be; the same man that advises us that “In the summertime, when the weather is high, you can reach right up and touch
the sky”, also misinforms us to “Have a drink, have a drive”, which I’m pretty sure is against NCC regulations. I’m doing that British thing of scalding the sun for daring to arrive, writing this on the hottest day of the year so far (y’know, THAT Sunday) and #itssofrigginhotthat I could no more “reach right up and touch the sky” than I can seem to prise my sweaty fingers apart to type this editor’s note. You don’t even wanna know about my cleavage. So yes, it’s the British summer and festival season, which makes us take in 3 of our exclusive interviews. It’s those weekends, which force us to try and pack for every eventuality, which in this mixed up world is never possible. Should you pack the wellies and do we need a poncho and perhaps we should bring the whip and leathers ‘cause THAT’S WHAT THEY DO NEAR SOUTHWOLD. I think the heat is getting to me. What I know to be true and what I can put my bloody new name to (see details, right, if you’re in the biz of writing to me) is the fact this region always delivers on talent, both homegrown and imported. Just over a month ago Norwich stormed through its first block-rockin’ Playfest, and they gave us a stellar start to the summer of sounds… So read on, our equally sweaty minions, and delight in all we have to offer. In some sort of twist of fate, the magazine can also be used as a fan, so waft, and be wafted…
