DVD OF THE MONTH

127 HOURS Te standards were left extremely lofty for Danny Boyle after the success of his 2008 Oscar winning film, Slumdog Millionaire. With Te Beach, Trainspotting and 28 Days Later also under his belt, it was certain Boyle could turn out

favourites for generations. But how do you tackle the hugely personal story of Aron Ralston, the adrenaline junky who put the next fix in front of all his personal relationships, paying the ultimate price of putting his life in danger. Te story follows Ralston on his latest adventure, which sees him sashaying around nature’s most dramatic landscapes, traversing large-scale heights and endless crevices. His confidence alone isn’t enough to stop him getting stuck after a fallen boulder traps his path, and the next five days trying to escape his peril makes him consider his life as never before. James Franco plays the part of Ralston with deliciously horrifying realism, and Danny Boyle injects his signature touch of uncomfortable rapport with the audience.
