Third Annual Doggie Street Festival

T

he third annual Doggie Street Festival (DSF) to raise awareness about pet adoption will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 31. Dedicated to increasing dog adoptions, the event has placed more than 250 shelter dogs with new families in the past two years. Launched in 2009, DSF’s initial event

brought together more than 35 breed-specific rescue groups and shelters with adoptable dogs from throughout San Diego County. Thousands of San Diegans, including pet professionals, educators, vet- erinarians, vendors, entertainers and dedicated volunteers attended to support the festival and its mission. This year’s festival features animal advice, pet prod- ucts and services, food and family entertainment. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome to attend. Organizing the event is Jude Artenstein, a filmmaker

currently working on Rescue Me, a documentary that follows the journey of a group of abandoned dogs and the people that rescued them. Artenstein previously line-produced the critically acclaimed hit comedy, A Day Without a Mexican, and has co-written, directed and produced numerous films.
