EUROPEAN UPDATE Tipos Casinos Slovakia sell-off
Slovakia’s national lottery company, Tipos, plans to sell its stake in Casinos Slovakia
Slovakia’s national lottery company, Tipos, which is currently awaiting a court decision regarding its application for bankruptcy protection, wants to sell its stake in its subsidiary stock company, Casinos Slovakia.
Tipos owns 51.32 per cent of Casinos Slovakia shares and alongside remaining share holding company, Merk Reality, has agreed to jointly sell 100 per cent of Casinos Slovakia. Casinos Slovakia is the operator of five casinos, including in Bratislava Casino Café-Redoute.
Tipos has stated that casino gaming is not consistent with the strategic goals of the national lottery company in the field of gaming. Figures released by Casinos Slovakia show its first historical loss recorded in 2009, at almost €830,000, while in 2008 the company recorded a profit of €1.3m. The economic results for

JCM Global is off to a great year, first winning awards in Europe and now winning a 100 per cent installation in the newest casino in North America. The Gun Lake Casino opened with JCM Global’s award-winning Universal Bill Acceptors (UBA), Intelligent Cash Box (ICB) and Sentry bezel on 100 per cent of its 1,450 gaming devices.
The 76,000 square-foot Gun Lake Casino, located between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo in Michigan, is owned by the Match-E-Be-Nash- She-Wish Band of Potawatomi Indians and is managed by MPM Enterprises LLC, a partnership that includes Station Casinos, Inc.
Gun Lake Casino General Manager Rob McDermott said, “We spent $165 million building a first-rate entertainment destination, and we chose JCM Global products because they give us first-rate protection, accountability, ease-of-use and speed.”

2009 were the last the company filed. Total revenues for Casinos Slovakia in 2009 year on year show a fall by almost a third to €33.6m. The company, Casinos Slovakia, was founded in 1990 and the first casino opened in 1991. The largest and most prestigious location, the Bratislava Casino Café-Redoute, was opened in 1994. The remaining casinos include: Casino Kosice, Casino Nitra, Casino Pietany and Casino Zilina.
