he Peugeot 508 is a striking looking car – especially the estate version I was given to test drive by Keith Price Garages, near Abergavenny - and it is
set to hold it’s own among its competitiors in the executive car market as it oozes class. Sleek lines, a wonderful panoramic sun
roof, a huge amount of boot space and a very comfortable drive – just what more could you want? Well, in these days of high fuel prices most drivers are looking for incredible fuel economy

from their motors. And with the 508 you need look no further. The car was automatic with a stop and
start system which meant everytime you came to a halt at traffic lights or a junction, the car automatically turns off but as soon as you take your foot off the brake it springs back into life – and all so quietly you’d be forgiven for thinking it didn’t even happen! The fuel consumption is up there with some
of the best and tax for a year is only about £30 which again adds to the 508’s appeal.

county roads with four teenagers on board acting as self-appointed sound system critics. The result was a resounding thumbs up for ease of use of the iPod adapter and for the sound coming out of the speakers. Despite the size of the car – long, as you
would expect an estate car to be – it was a joy to drive. It hugged the twists, turns and hills on the road between Abergavenny and Rockfield; did not look at all out of place next to the Mercedes in the carpark of a local golf club;
