Help make a real difference in your local area

Action for Children are looking for Short Break Carers to join them in their centenary year in Wales in the Monmouthshire and Powys areas...

Action for Children believes that short breaks services should be available to all disabled children and their families who need them.

Shared care family-based short breaks Both Monmouthshire and Powys Social Services have

grasped the opportunity to make a real difference to the services offered to disabled children and their families, by commissioning Action for Children to provide these short break services in your area. Our services support children and young people with a

wide range of needs, including children with multiple and complex impairments such as severe learning difficulties, and mobilityand communication needs, sometimes combined with long-term health issues. We are looking for local people; individuals, couples and

families who can provide room in their homes and in their lives to have children to stay with them for a weekend, once a month or so. Whilst they get the opportunity to make new friends and enjoy different experiences, their parents can feel secure that they are in safe hands and have a break from their caring role, giving them time to rest and recharge their energy. Short break carers are paid an allowance and receive

preparation, training and regular support. To find out more, contact Action for Children, Taith Newydd on 01633 270422 or email taith.newydd@actionforchildren.org.uk
