“OUR DESIGN TEAM ALSO INCLUDES EVERYONE IN OUR COMPANY. EVERY IDEA IS IMPORTANT AND ADDS VALUE”

have an influence, based around reliability and service. Today, we add to these values with the ingredient of world class design; products that deliver an experiential difference both in their function and their visual design language. We are proud of our 125-year history and now we are well underway in the future development program of new technologies integrated with unique design.

DESIGNER: WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES IN DESIGNING PRODUCTS FOR THE GLOBAL MARKET RATHER THAN JUST THE DOMESTIC MARKET? SNEDDON: The global market certainly has its challenges. However, in the same token, the world is very small. We travel to experience cultures and trends. We gather insights and an understanding of the market from our teams allowing us to be on the leading edge. We are carving our own take on what our products and experiences should be.

Being New Zealand-based means we need to work extra hard with better thinking to create world leading products. Satinjet showers, twin lever tapware, shower infusion systems are all new technologies that we developed in New Zealand. Our design team also includes everyone in our company. Every idea is important and adds value. The design team’s job is to assemble these ideas into something special, something like no one has done before – thinking beyond today.

SNEDDON: Satinjet has been a vital ingredient to where we sit today. A technology that was developed to produce the most luxurious shower in the world and yet save water; a technology that everyone can obtain and give our water resources a chance to recover. From a designer’s perspective, it’s

how you maximise the attributes of this technology to deliver an experience. This includes designing the spray patterns and jetting angles so the water encapsulates the body for total comfort and understanding optimal shower angles and shower distance to allow for movement and freedom. It’s also about creating the visual aspect

that inspires desirability and the fit with the bathroom environment. These are what
