IDEAS CENTRAL
Visitors to kbb London had their say on some of the most innovative products on the market
THE
winners of the kbb London Innovation Awards were unveiled
during kbb London at ExCel, London. A judging panel made up of Martin Allen-
Smith, Managing Editor of Designer Magazine, David Fisher, Design Director at Seymourpowell, and product designer Robin Levien, were on hand to judge the products, all shortlisted based on their ingenuity, design and sustainability. They awarded De Dietrich’s ‘Piano’ induction hob as their Judges Choice. Allen-Smith said: “Rather than just an
aesthetic success story, the jury members were looking for a product that had at its heart an innovative idea that would make a real impact to a particular product category. “More importantly, it had to make a real
difference to the end user’s way of life on a human level. The De Dietrich induction hob does this by taking induction to the next level – making it zoneless and therefore highly flexible.” The winner of the Visitor’s Choice went to
S-Box for its ‘pop-up’ storage concept, while Fisher & Paykel won the Online Choice award for their CoolDrawer, the first multi-temperature cooling drawer in the world. Kbb brand director Andrew Vaughan
commented: “The kbb London Innovation Centre saw a constant flow of visitors all looking for a glimpse into the future of new design, product development and innovation from across the kbb spectrum. “Our inaugural Innovation Awards saw some
of the industry’s pioneering product concepts showcased and I look forward to seeing what strides the industry will make by kbb London 2013.”
The kbb London Innovation Awards ran
alongside kbb London in May 2011. The second edition of the competition will be part of kbb London 2013, taking place at ExCeL, London from 19-21 May 2013. designer
