Set the date
first thing to do is to select your venue, book the date provisionally and then contact the register office in the district where your marriage venue is located to check that the registrars are available on the date of your choice. Berkshire registrars are available for ceremonies every day of the week, including Sundays and Bank Holidays and provisional bookings can usually be made up to a year in advance of the wedding day, though some register offices may take provisional bookings for approved premises up to two years in advance.
W Confirm the booking
are a foreign national subject to immigration control, at your nearest designated register office. This is called ‘Giving Notice’ (see page 27) andmust be done at least 15 clear days before the ceremony, though it can be completed up to 12 months in advance of the day. Please note thatmost register offices work on an appointment system, so call in advance to make sure you will be able to see the registrar.
