A new leisure and enter- tainment complex is to be developed on the outskirts of Birmingham under new plans unveiled by Genting Casinos UK and the NEC Group. Resorts World at Te NEC


is to be situated on a site between the LG Arena and the Crowne Plaza Hotel, although the project is dependent on Genting securing a large casino licence. A decision on the licence is expected from Solihull Council in late May, with plans to be submitted for the scheme this summer. Te 55,000sq m (592,015sq ſt) complex is set

Travelodge teams up with pub groups peTe hayman


Budget hotel operator Travelodge has announced that it has joined forces with a number of UK pub groups as part of a £100m expansion drive across the country. Travelodge has already joined forces with


pub companies on 15 sites, but will now work with Greene King; JW Lees; Marston’s; Mitchells and Butlers; and JD Wetherspoon in its bid to develop 36 new locations by 2015. It has revealed that it has drawn up a


bespoke development strategy as part of the partnership with pub companies, which are also embarking on expansion plans. According to the hotel group, the proposed


co-location offers benefits in terms of provid- ing guests with a food and drink offer, as well as making schemes easier to develop and more affordable compared to individual projects.
