come together to develop any such scheme. A spokesperson described the development as a sign of “how seriously the sustainability agenda is being taken in each country”.


Tourism industry ‘worth £317m’ to Swansea Bay peTe hayMan


New figures published by Swansea Council have found that visitor spending in the Swansea Bay area increased by 3 per cent last year. According to the Scarborough Tourism Economic Activity Monitor (STEAM), the

London mayor Boris Johnson has revealed that Mace will lead a consortium of contrac- tors that will be responsible for delivering a new cable car link across the Tames. Work is due to commence


on the scheme this summer, which will connect Greenwich with the Royal Docks and is due to be completed ahead of the London 2012 Games. Dopplemayr; Watson Steel;


URS Scott Wilson; and Buro Happold are the other firms to comprise the consortium that will build the Wilkinson Eyre-designed link. Meanwhile, Transport for London (TfL) has


launched a process to find commercial part- ners prepared to invest in the project.
